Metro Music

Metro Music was Martha and the Muffins' first album, released in 1979. It contained the international hit single "Echo Beach", which reached #3 in Canada, #1 in Portugal, #5 in Australia and #10 in the UK charts in March 1980. It also reached #37 in the U.S. on the Club Play Singles chart. "Saigon" was released as a follow-up single in the UK a few months later, but failed to chart. In Canada, the follow-up single was "Paint By Number Heart" — it climbed to #69. The album itself was certified gold in Canada (50,000 units) on September 1, 1980; "Echo Beach" was certified gold there (5,000 units) on the following October 1.

As Dindisc 1 (DID I) Metro Music was notable for being the first album ever released on the then-new DinDisc label, followed soon after by the first album from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, numbered, appropriately enough, as DinDisc 2 (DID 2).

The cover image design by Peter Saville is a map of Toronto, the band's hometown and is based on a map from the National Topographic System of Canada.

Crystal Lewis

Crystal Lynn Lewis (born September 11, 1969) is an American contemporary Christian/gospel vocalist, songwriter and author.

Biography

Early years

Crystal Lewis, born in Corona, California, grew up singing in her father's church. In 1984, at the age of 15, Lewis auditioned for a children's musical called Hi Tops, written and produced by Ernie and Debbie Rettino, creators of Psalty, the Singing Song Book. Lewis passed the audition and was able to go into the studio and participate in the soundtrack recording with the rest of the cast members. While working with the musical, Lewis met a member of the rockabilly band, The Lifters. After becoming friends with the members of that band, Lewis was asked to join. Soon after, the band changed its name to Wild Blue Yonder. In 1992 Crystal worked at the sketch comedy television series Roundhouse, that aired on Nickelodeon.

Wild Blue Yonder was together for two years and recorded a single full length album Wild Blue Yonder, produced by Daniel Amos frontman Terry Scott Taylor, for Frontline Records in 1986. She would also sing on D.A.'s album Fearful Symmetry in 1986, and Taylor's solo album A Briefing for the Ascent in 1987. After Wild Blue Yonder disbanded, Frontline offered Lewis a solo recording contract at the age of 17. Beyond the Charade, her first solo project, was released in 1987.
